Surrogate pet

Surrogate pet

We met "Scruffy" (our given name) over a year ago. We grill on the patio quite often. We were cooking chicken on the grill one day and saw him through the sliding glass door. He stopped to smell the chicken. I opened the door and asked him if he was hungry. I gave him something from the refrigerator and off he went. Over the past year he has come by nearly every night (sometimes two or three times depending on what we have). He sits and waits patiently while we scrounge something from the refrigerator or cupboards. His favorite is little hormel pepperoni slices. He will come back three times in one night for those. We know he has a home and apartment living doesn't allow pets, but we have been blessed to have "Scruffy" visit us nearly every day for the last year.
