Wind Driven Fire Threatens Clarkston Wa.

A fire fueled by the high winds today in Clarkston Washington, has already claimed three structures. As a cooperative effort in batteling the fire includes the service of local fire crews, including; Clarkston City, Asotin County, Lewiston Fire, Clearwater Paper and others. Attempts to gain controll of the blaze are hampered by the high winds from the west which are driving the flames and smoke towards the east. Thus putting more homes and structures in danger. High winds are expected to continue in the area untill just after midnight making controll of the blaze that much more dificult for fire fighters. clarkston residents and spectators are urged to stay away from the areas between Elm and Poplar st, and between 15th and 16th st. doing so will make travel for fire crews and equipment much easier.
