Lakewood, CO – waveGUARD™ Corporation is excited to announce the launch of their exterior residential wildfire hydro-mitigation wetting system.
For any home or structure located in the midst of trees or heavy foliage, the clearing of combustible materials away from the structure, adding non combustible landscape, and/or irrigated landscape is crucial in developing a defensible space around the structure against fire.
waveGUARD™ Corporation has developed the Hydro-Mitigation system to wet down this defensible area and the structure to decrease the odds of severe damage to your home or structure. The wetting down of the structure and mitigated space increases the humidity of the area, decreases the area temperature, and works to prevent embers from a fire igniting the structure.
The fully automatic, completely self-contained system operates on the premise that the home or structure will be evacuated when the need for the system to operate arises. Research has shown that the more water applied in the shortest amount of time is desirable over small amounts of water applied over longer periods of time. In order to accomplish this task, our system incorporates a 2,000 to 5,000 gallon storage tank, high volume pump, high flow brass sprinkler heads for large area coverage, micro-spray heads for precision wetting in places that could hide an ember, a propane powered generator, infra red (IR) flame detectors, and our exclusive, HMC-400 solid state controller.
Here’s how it works; the IR flame detectors constantly scan their areas for flame and it’s infra red heat signature. Once a flame is sensed, an alarm signal is sent to the HMC-400 controller which activates the sprinkler system. As part of our hydro-mitigation process, a fire retardant is injected into the sprinkler system enhancing the mitigation process. The controller waters down the structure and a 25’- 50’ perimeter around the structure for a minimum of 20 minutes. If after 20 minutes the flame detectors continue to sense flame, the wetting continues. If the sensors do not sense flame, the controller will go into a mode that works to shield the structure from air born embers through cycles of 5 minutes of wetting every 20 minutes until the storage tank empties. During this entire time the controller has activated a fill valve to work to replenish the water in the storage tank and is monitoring the water level in the tank so that when the tank empties, the sprinkler system is shut down preventing damage to the pump.
As an added benefit, waveGUARD™ Corporation offers optional monitoring of the system. The monitoring varies with what communication paths are available at the home or structure site. We have communication packages for use over the internet, telephone, or through an existing security or fire alarm system.
waveGUARD™ Corporation designers recognize that one system does not fit all applications. Some homes are large and require greater amounts of water storage; some homes are smaller and could use their existing well supply (providing the well delivery capacity is such that it can operate a few rotor type sprinkler heads at one time). Therefore we’ve made our system flexible enough to work with various water supply sources including multiple tanks, a community water source, a nearby pond, or even as mentioned above, the homes own well.
Major components of the primary Hydro-Mitigation system include:
• At least one IR Flame Detector
• 1,000 to 5,000 gallon reservoir
• Fire retardant injection system
• Booster pump
• HMC-400 control panel
• Propane-powered generator
• Spray heads
waveGUARD™ exterior hydro-mitigation sprinkler system is the most advanced system designed to assist in wild fire mitigation of your home, your possessions, and priceless family memories.
