Ghost Shadow

Ghost photography explaned!

The first photo is the result of low ambient lighting, a long exposure with the subject moving part-way through the exposure. My sample photo's particular exposure was 5 seconds, with the Ghost subject moving about 4 seconds through, there was little light on the front of the subject.

The second photo is the result of a very bright flash, and vapor from the photographer's breath. Near the camera, the flash is very bright. Even if you can't see your breath, the vapor can (and does) reflect the flash. I've even had this happen with warm hands near a cold lens causing temporary fogging right on the lens.

I will not disparage the "Expert", but these are common and well established photographic aberrations, not apparitions. Anyone can re-create these ghosts.

As much as we'd like to say it was haunted I, too, experienced a picture with breath making a picture look like ghosts in it. About 6 years ago the Asotin Panthers vs Potlatch JV Football was on Halloween. It looked like a team of ghosts in the pic.
