Sam Roberston, Colton High School
Sam Roberston By Jay TustCOLTON - In a performance that would leave any fantasy football owner drooling, Colton's Sam Roberston showcased what he's capable of last Friday. It was a ridiculous night. The senior rushed for 356 yards and six touchdowns in Colton's 89-54 win over Joseph. If you're not impressed yet, you will be when you find out he did it on just seven carries. Roberston said he never saw it coming. "It's not like it happens every game, you know it pops up and you think I can't believe I rushed for that many yards, or that many touchdowns," said Roberston. The only thing in question about Sam is his failed attempt as modesty. For this senior, it isn't the first time he's put together a performance like this. "Last year, in the last game of Tri-cities prep, I rushed for somewhere around there again, maybe a little higher" said Roberston. "It comes down to good blocking and depends on how the defense lines up on you." In a trivia question that will surely stump even the biggest Idaho Vandal fans years from now, last Friday it was the Colton football team that christened the newly renovated Kibbie Dome. Sam said playing on that stage helped fuel his success. "I was psyched, my adrenaline was going and I was ready, I was pumped," said Roberston. And hoping that performance helps propel him to a success senior year, do be surprise if you see this stat sheet stuff do it again. "Yeah, if the blocking keeps being as great as it is, oh yeah, I could do that again," said Roberston. |
