Shriver hopes to make state three years in a row

Kelsey Shriver.

ASOTIN, WA - Kelsey Shriver, a senior at Asotin High School, is a member of both the girls basketball and volleyball teams.

In volleyball her junior year, the team won the league title and this year won the district title. Kelsey said those two titles are special to be a part of.

"It's awesome because so far volleyball hasn't had a winning record" said Shriver. "So to be a part of that is just awesome."

One might think the transition from volleyball to basketball maybe difficult. Kelsey said while they are both very athletic, it's rather easy, but sees the difference between the two sports.

"Volleyball is more of a mental sport so you have to be more mentally tough" said Shriver. "Basketball you have to be in better shape to get up and down the court."

Looking back at her time with the Asotin Panthers, there are many highlights to choose from. But if she had to pick one, Kelsey said it would be something that has happened twice and is hoping happens for a third time.

"Going to state two years in a row was a big highlight as a sophomore and a junior," said Shriver. "I just hope we can continue that in my senior year, so have three years in a row."
