Wright a very busy Maniac!

OROFINO. Id- Whether it's on the hardwood, the baseball diamond, or on the grid-iron, Orofino's DJ Wright stays busy competing for the Maniacs. Though this senior's a three-sport athlete, he said his fall sport's his favorite.

"I just like the competition and our town just really gets pumped up about football," said Wright. "We get all of the support we need. And it really gets me going."

Wright leads the Maniac's offense from the quarterback position and will definitely be missed next season.

"He's a competitor," said Orofino Head Football Coach Galen Kuykendall. "That competitiveness rubs off on the rest of the kids. He plays hard so certainly we'll have to get somebody that leads in that direction also."

Coach Kuykendall said it's not only DJ's athletic talent he'll miss, but also his positive attitude. Wright has this advice for future Orofino stars.

"Just to keep doing right and working hard," said Wright. "We stress doing the right thing, kind of like a karma thing. Do all the right thing and things will work out in the end."

Number 14 said he wouldn't be the athlete he is today if it wasn't for the support he's received from a couple special coaches.

"Coach Kuykendall, he's helped me a lot with all of my quarterback work," said Wright. "And Coach Tony Snyder, our assistant football coach. He's been my coach in football and basketball and he's definitely a good role model for me."

So what's next for this Maniac? He said he plans to stay involved with athletics, even after he graduates.

"I plan on going and playing some college football," said Wright. "I'm not sure where yet, but I'll be playing for sure. And then I'll probably be studying advertising."

But first he has some business to take care of, as his Maniacs strive to finish the season on top!

What would be the perfect way to end your senior season? "Definitely a state championship," said Wright. "That's all we've been working for."
