LEWISTON - Fresh off it's dedication last Friday, the first annual Sweeney Invitational was being held at Bruce and Marilyn Sweeney Track and Field on Saturday.

Even though it was the first meet of the year, that didn't stop a few competitors from Lewiston High from turning in some stellar performances.

The day was headlined by Camden Bernatz's performance in the boys 100-meter dash. The junior defeated Moscow's Jayson Washington, the defending state champ, by finishing in 10.94 seconds. As for the Bear senior, he took second with a time of 11.21.

In the field portion, the Bengals Ben Fitzsimmons pole-vaulted 13-feet to claim an individual title, as Spencer Beale did the same with a toss of better than 138-feet in the discuss.

For the girls Bethany Stuffle won the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.

Overall, Lewiston and Moscow placed 3rd and 4th respectively for both boys and girls.
