YAKIMA - Wednesday morning in Yakima the Washington 2-A girls state basketball tournament tipped off.

After both Pullman and Clarkston secured their seeds last weekend, both hit the court.

At 16-6, the Greyhounds did battle with East Valley.

Early on, the Red Devils were hot from behind the arc, as Kaylah Gonzales got her team on the board with a 3.

But for the most part, the game belonged to Pullman. Thanks to some good defense, the Hounds rolled 44-25. Pullman will play River Ridge Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

A little later in the day, the Clarkston girls were taking on Burlington-Edison.

In the first quarter, both teams were showing off their range. For the Tigers, Katlyn Mataya hits the deep "J." But going the other way, the Bantams proving they can shoot it as well. Brandi Beutler knocked down the three.

But in the end the Bantams came up short 44-60. They face Tumwater Thursday morning at 10:30 in a loser-out contest.
