LEWISTON - The baseball season is winding down for one age group in the Valley.

The Lewiston Babe Ruth league is just kicking off it's city tournament. Last night we caught up with the thirteen year-olds at Church Field, and coach of the Blue Bombers, Kelly Steiger.

"It's been a good year, I think. We're doing well," said Steiger. "There's a lot of kids working hard."

He said coaching the youngest of teenagers is interesting, because developmentally their at a number of different stages, but perhaps the biggest change... It's their first shot at a big field.

"A lot of different competition. Kids grow, can throw father and harder, and some kids don't yet. All-Star selection is next week, so it will be really interesting."

This weekend's tournament will also be a change for the kids, from the league's normal two-games-a-week schedule.

"At the end of the season we play four games, so we play play Thursday, Friday Saturday, and then Monday," said Steiger, "The number one and number two seed will play each other, and number three and number four seed will play each other, and then at the 14 and 15 year old level, it will switch back within the week."

14 and 15 years old will get their tournament started Monday. Games are scheduled at 5:30 and 7:30 each night.
