Moscow football alum honor coach
By Alex Haight
MOSCOW, ID - It's a high school football reunion!
Several former Moscow High School players met for a round of golf to begin a weekend honoring Bill Miles, who coached the Bears from 1966-1979. Former running back Dave Knecht thought it would be a good idea for old teammates to get reacquainted before a dedication ceremony tomorrow. Former players and community members are hosting a rally at 3:00 tomorrow where Miles will be awarded a plaque for his service to the team. There will also be a dinner banquet at 7:30 where several people will speak about Miles' accomplishments. "A bunch of us like to golf," said Dave Knecht, former MHS runningback, "so we though it would be a good idea for those that could come in early to be here and golf and this could kind of be the meeting place for tonight." One of Miles' former players, Jeff Troxel is currently the head coach for Lake City High School in Coeur d' Alene. Troxel said he still has a strong relationship with Miles. "He comes and watches my practices," said Troxel, "And we still visit and like I said, he's just had a big impact on my life." If you'd like to be a part of honoring coach Miles, you can go to tomorrow's banquet. The cost is 35 dollars and registration is required. Doors open at 6:00 at the University of Idaho Student Union Building. |
