Cougs at Aurburn experience late-game drama
PULLMAN, WA - Both our Division 1 College Football teams from the Palouse had their first games of the season this past Saturday...let's jump to see highlights from Auburn, Alabama as the Cougars faced a tough match-up.

Here come the Washington State Cougars for the first time this season as Mike Leach's 2013 squad looked for an upset against the Auburn Tigers.

Let's start with some good running from the Cougs, running back Jeremiah Laufasa scampers into the end zone with this 4-yard touchdown run...Cougs take the first lead of the game 7-0 after the extra point.

First miscue of the game, quarterback Connor Halliday is going to get picked off by Robenson Therezie who would have a great game ending up with two picks in this one.

How about some good from Halliday? Cougs at the Auburn seven...Halliday fires to Ratliff on the slant for the touchdown, and the Cougs take the lead once again, 14-8.

Now you wanna see a beautiful pass? here's Halliday throwing a perfect dime to Ratliff once again by the right sideline who takes it almost to the end zone...would end up as a 54 yard gain.

But then, fourth quarter, Cougs down by seven in the red zone with a chance to tie it up, Connor Halliday throws into double coverage in the end zone...and Robenson Therezie is there to save the day for the Tigers.

And that would be your final score in the end...Wazzu falls 31-24 to Auburn. If there is anything Coach Leach was happy with from this game, it was his team's effort.

"Played real hard...had some opportunities that we'd like to polish up on, we'd like to improve but, it all starts with good effort and we had pretty good effort and we have to build on it," said Leach. "Spent more time coach effort than we have coaching technique and so the harder everyone works, the better we're going to be and so I think that's been a huge improvement. I think that's come from leadership that a lot of the players have taken."

The Cougs will practice Tuesday through Thursday before heading to Southern California on Friday to take on USC this Saturday.
