Petrino makes staff adjustments with Vandal program

MOSCOW, ID - It's been an eventful week up in Moscow and the changes keep coming.

Paul Petrino is slowly setting up his staff. Interim Head Coach Jason Gesser is off the payroll. As the week has progressed, the future of nearly all the assistant coaches does not look promising, although the final word has not yet come in. When Petrino addressed the Vandal faithful on Monday, he made a comment that could be interpreted as if it will be out with the old, in with the new.

"I want to thank all the assistants that were here and their families because this is always a tough time and I know how you feel," said Petrino. "My wife and kids are the most important thing to me so, I just want to thank you guys for everything you did here and wish ya'll the best of luck and any way I can ever help you, I'd love to do that."

Tight ends coach Al Pupunu is one current coach that according to a source sited by the Spokesman Review will stay on the Vandal staff. Petrino has made two hires and footballscoop.com has reported he made a third with Robert Lee. Lee, who most recently was a running backs coach and special teams coordinator at Indiana State, will be the Vandals new defensive coordinator.
