For the second time in her career, senior Kelli Tikker earned 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete status. Student-athletes are nominated by the head coaches of their respective schools and must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and achieved a junior academic status in order to qualify. Tikker says this status is an honor, but gives credit to her team as well.
"My success comes from the success of my teammates." said Tikker.
Tikker and senior Lauryn Herrick, who was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Year, were both named to the all-Northwest Region team by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association. Herrick says ending her career at LCSC with these two honors is something she couldn't have done alone.
"I have to credit the teams I've played with and the coaches that I've had all four years." said Herrick. "They've helped me incredibly."
In addition to those awards, LCSC volleyball assistant coach Marie Balmer was named the AVCA's assistant coach of the year.
