Men’s team looks forward to a better ranking at nationals.
LEWISTON, ID - As the weather starts to cool, the long-distance runners will be coming out in flocks...not that weather has ever stopped them before.

The Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country team is gearing up to take another run at nationals this year. Head coach Mike Collins spoke with reporters on Monday about the upcoming season, new recruits, and last year's finishes for both the men's and women's teams. Though his women finished eighth in the nation, his men finished 15th, something he still isn't happy about.

"I think most schools would take being ranked 15th or finishing 15th at nationals as a good thing...we didn't feel that way," said Collins. "We had a team that was far more talented than that. We just ended up the year with too many injuries and illnesses that hit us at the worst time."

Both teams will hit the ground running at the Northwest Classic on August 31st in Spokane.
