PULLMAN, WA - Unless you have the defense of the 2001 Baltimore Ravens, most teams need a balanced offense and defense to do well in Division 1 Football.

And balance is exactly what Head Coach Mike Leach has been working on achieving since the off-season as he looks to make his Washington State Football team a contender in a tough Pac-12 Conference. Last year, the Cougs did lead the conference in pass yards per game, however they were in the lower ranks of many defensive statistical categories.

After a year of developing younger players and recruiting, Leach is seeing both sides of the ball having their moments to shine.

"Offense was pretty hot then defense got hot so...which is what we expect, so, they do a lot of great things and they're going to make a lot of great things happen," said Leach.
