PULLMAN - Tipping off their preseason schedule, the Washington State men's basketball team was at home Monday night taking on the LCSC Warriors.

Freshman Reggie Moore hit Xavier Thames for a hoop early in the game. LC responded with senior Daniel Williams who also converted for a bucket, while adding two more from the line soon after.

Not to be outdone WSU's Klay Thompson also converted on a drive for the layup. Shortly after that, Thompson hit a three to give the Cougs a 42-24 lead at the break.

In the second half, off one of Thompson's few misses DeAngelo Casto cleans it up for him underneath the hoop. Casto a Spokane native would finish with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Attempting to stay in the game LC began heating up behind the arc as Derek Gianukakis canned a triple. Then teammate Greg Shepard hit another three.

WSU however, was too much for the Warriors and pulled away down the stretch with a range of flashy moves, including something that has been foreign to the Cougar offense the last few years - an alley-opp.

Thompson the super-sophomore finished 4-of-4 from long range for a game-high 19 points. With time winding down Reggie Moore came up with a steal and drove it down the court for a slam.

The Cougs trounced on the Warriors and went on to win 73-51.

Afterward, WSU head coach Ken Bone claimed the win was not that big of a deal.

"I'm excited that we're finally out there playing some games because that's what the kids are excited about," said Bone. "But I've spent some time here over the years, on the other bench on Friel Court. It was really exciting to see the amount of students there and I think our players were fired up about that. But, for me personally it was just another game."
