Warrior men remain optimistic

LEWISTON- The Warrior men's golf team is looking to win their second consecutive conference championship. The team has been disappointed with their performance thus far but Senior Jeff Ray believes the team is about to hit their stride.

"I think we just haven't showed up at a tournament," said Ray. "We're improving every week. Guys are playing a lot better. I think once we hit our strides in the tournament we'll just ride it all the way out."

The squad has been relying on several key players who have carrying the load so far this season.

"We have a freshman that's been playing solid all year," said Ray. "And he comes in with some solid numbers. Plus Nick's playing well. Those two have been holding the team together for the most part."

L-C sits 54 strokes behind first place Rocky Mountain in the league standings but remain optimistic they can make up a lot of ground on their home course next week.

"That's an advantage," said Ray. "That's where we make up most of our strokes every year is at the Lewiston tournament. Last year I think we made up 30 or something like that so anything's possible."

The Warriors will close out conference play in Salt Lake City on April 22nd but first have business to take care of here as they host the Frontier Conference Tournament.

"We won the conference last year," said Ray. "We should win it this year."
