WSU men suffer first home loss

The Cougs lost to UCLA by a score of 63-60.

PULLMAN, WA - Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and they did for the Washington State men's basketball team on Saturday. The Cougs suffered their first home lost of the season to UCLA by a score of 63-60.

Things got a little chippy at the end of the first half. The Bruins Anthony Stover was called for an excessive flagrant foul after knocking Brock Motum to the ground. The Cougs responded with two 3-pointers to close out the first half. The second half was much different for the Cougs. UCLA switched to a zone defense which held Motum to only six second half points. Head coach Ken Bone says turnovers played a key role as well.

"I thought our guys played hard, but we played real sloppy and turnovers really cost us." said Bone. "We don't have a defense for those turnovers that result in breakaway layups."

The Cougs hit the road this week to face Oregon State on Thursday in Corvallis.
