WSU Cougars one step closer to bowl eligibility after this past Saturday
PULLMAN, WA - The Cougar Football team had lost two straight before their meeting in Arizona this past Saturday...a win for them here would be considered an upset to many.

Mike Leach and his Washington State Football team hoping to get their record back to 500 with a win over the 6-3 Arizona Wildcats. First quarter, the running game gets going as Marcus Mason only has to make one cut then busts right up the middle, that's a 15-yard touchdown run, Cougs up 7-0.

Not to be outdone, Arizona shows they can run as well. Ka'Deem Carey gets the ball, flies up the middle, drags a Coug defender and will end up in the end zone after 30-yard. Still 10-7 Cougs.

Only score of the second quarter as Arizona Quarter back BJ Denker drops back and has the patience to wait for Carey on the screen pass, he's gonna wiggle his way into the end zone, still a close game.
Now quarterback Connor Halliday steps into the picture, check out this perfect strike to River Cracraft for the 23 yard touchdown. It's 17-14 Cougs.

Late game heroics from Halliday now as he avoid the sack out to the right and finds Isiah Meyers, and check out the move he makes to get by the defender and get in the end zone. And with that score, we'd have our final. Cougs win 24-17. Coach Leach talks about Halliday's performance.

"Really good, I thought it was the best game he played," said Leach. "Completed nearly 80%, and in particular what I thought he did really well was control the offense and keep them really focused in, that type of thing."

The 5-5 Cougs will have their last home game of the season against the Utah Utes this Saturday with a 12:30 scheduled kickoff.
