MOSCOW, ID – With being a four touchdown underdog to North Carolina, not many people gave the Vandals a chance to win.

However, considering how they played against LSU just two games prior, nobody expected what actually happened.

Not only did the rain come down in droves, but so did the points, and all were in favor of the Tar Heels. North Carolina blanked Idaho 66-0 giving the Vandals their first shutout loss August of 2008.

In his weekly press conference on Monday, Vandals head coach Robb Akey wasn’t much for talking about the game, and rightfully so. With WAC conference play opening on Saturday, he said it’s time for a new beginning.

“We get an opportunity to have a new start,” said Akey. “We starting conference play undefeated, un-scored upon, and not having to travel this week. (We’re) able to play at home, and honestly can’t wait to get back out on the field.”

The Vandals will host New Mexico State, who would appear to be joining Idaho in the independent ranks next season, in the Kibbie Dome with kickoff scheduled for 2pm.
