Vandals and Eagles prepare for Thursday night showdown
MOSCOW, ID - The Idaho Vandals and Eastern Washington Eagles will open up the 2012 college football season Thursday night in the Kibbie Dome.

Before you start thinking this is going to be an easy game for the Vandals, just remember that the Eagles are just two years removed from a national title.

EWU has also added a new weapon under center in transfer quarterback Kyle Padron from Southern Methodist.

When it cones to comparing new starting quarterbacks on both sides of the ball, Vandals head coach Robb Akey said it's all about what each signal caller does for there own team.

"We're going to have a new starting quarterback this year and they've got a new starting quarterback this year," said Akey. "What matters is how well our quarterback plays for our team and how well theirs plays for their team and what we can do to impact theirs."

Much like the quarterback comparisons don't really matter to coach Akey, the whole FBS-FCS situation between the schools doesn't really matter to Eastern head coach Beau Baldwin.

Regardless of the division, Baldwin said it's a great opportunity for the Eagles.

"It's an opportunity to play against a great football team that is a Division 1A football team," said Baldwin. "We don't talk about play up or play down games but still we know they're a Division 1 football team that's been to bowl games before so it's a great challenge for us but also a great opportunity."

The game is set for 6pm in the Kibbie Dome.
