MOSCOW, ID - Vandals starting quarterback Dominique Blackman was dismissed from the team last Thursday for violating team policy.

Linebacker Conrad Scheidt was also kicked off the team for the same reason. Head Coach Jason Gesser said that now that two of his players are gone, the rest of the team will have to pick up the slack for their game against San Jose State on Saturday.

"The team is kind of like, 'Hey, it happens,'" said Gesser. "'It happened and we got to rally around these guys and step up for them.'"

Gesser didn't disclose the specific actions that led to the dismissals. Gesser said there have been issues with these players before, and that they were fully aware of the consequences that would result from breaking team policies.

Quarterback Logan Bushnell will start Saturday's game, but Taylor Davis will also have a chance to play. Tight end Taylor Elmo was suspended shortly after he Tweeted a critical comment about the recent firing of Head Coach Robb Akey, but he is still practicing with the team.
