U of I football coach addresses the media
MOSCOW, ID – The University of Idaho football team isn’t joining the Sun Belt Conference until 2014, but that doesn’t mean they can’t talk about it.

Idaho Head Football Coach Paul Petrino, along with the Sun Belt’s other head football coaches, addressed the media at the Sun Belt Media Day. Petrino spoke about the passion the fans have and how joining a conference will help the team’s recruiting efforts in the future. He said his players are pumped.

“I think they’re really excited for it,” said Petrino. “I think they’re excited that we’re going to be in a conference, ‘cause next year will be real tough being independent. And they’re excited to have the ability to be back in a conference and kind of mix up with the two divisions and have a championship game and then the chance to go play for bowl games.”

He added that his mission is to return the Idaho football program into an exciting and winning environment. The Vandals play their first game as an independent on the 31st of August at North Texas.
