U of I the perfect fit for Straughan
COLTON, WA - A local high school athlete has just committed to a Division 1 college to continue his athletic career, and he's not even technically a senior yet.

Colton incoming senior Jake Straughan has verbally committed to play basketball for the University of Idaho after he finishes his senior year of high school. Though he excels at football, baseball, and basketball the latter is where his passion lies; and it shows after he averaged 26 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals per game in his junior year. What's even more impressive is that while playing all three sports, he has managed to maintain a 3.97 GPA. Over the past few months, Straughan was recruited by over 20 Division 1 colleges, but committing to Idaho was a choice that came naturally.

"I think Idaho just because it was the perfect fit,” said Straighan. “I love the coaches, I love the players, I've been playing with guys for about three months now, and at the end of the day, it was just the perfect fit for me."

"Night in and night out, he's the best guy on the floor. There's no if's, and's, or but's about it," said Head Basketball coach Seth Paine.

Idaho head coach Don Verlin must certainly be excited and anxious to get his new recruit on the floor, but Straughan still has his senior year to try to bring home a couple championships for Colton. We'll all be keeping an eye out for this star athlete!
