Morton rallies team and plays Varsity and Legion baseball
ASOTIN, WA - The game of baseball has transformed Asotin High School Senior Seth Morton into the person he is today.

"This is my favorite sport, I love baseball," said Seth.

Seth has grown up playing on the diamond and has sacrificed a lot for his love of the game.

"I quit football in 8th grade, so I was dedicated to baseball," said Seth.

His dedication to becoming the best is something he also pursues in the summertime as well.

"I've played legion for the past three years," said Seth.

Right now you can find Morton on the pitchers mound or playing shortstop for Asotin High School.

"I like shortstop just because your pretty much the captain of the field," said Seth.

His leadership on the field is rivaled only by his leadership off the field.

"I try to keep everything up, everyone's confidence up, because you can't win baseball games when people are down," said Seth.

Seth believes team encouragement is crucial, a lesson he learned from his supportive family.

"They're always out here to support me during games and cheer us on wherever we go," said Seth.

All the sweat, blood and tears have came down to this, his final year as a Panther. It's a bitter-sweet prospect for the three-year varsity baseball player.

"I've always tried to give it 100% whether I'm hitting or in the field," said Seth. "But it's kind of sinking in that this is the last year I'll be out here, it makes every error, every strikeout that more crucial."

Seth has hopes to continue his career on the baseball diamond in college.

"I'm kind of hoping I'd walk on at LC and give that a shot or I might go to Moses Lake to Big Bend," said Seth.

But for now Seth has only one thing on his mind.

"I'd just like our team to get back to where they were last year, the state championship," said Seth.

Never stopping short of his dreams and always striving to be the best makes Seth Morton this week’s P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week.
