PULLMAN, WA – Last week against UNLV, it was the Cougars offense that finally stepped up to the plate.

This week against Colorado, WSU head coach Mike Leach wants his defensive secondary to do the same thing.

Washington State has seen a steady rotation of players in the backfield so far this season. Leach would like to narrow that rotation down and said he is looking to the players who have the right attitude and mindset.

“I think they’ve got to quit being so timid,” said Leach. They’re obviously better than they give themselves credit for. When they get out there and they get the chance to play, there’s a little too much turning it down. About as fast as they turn it down, they complain they’re not out there. Well have the toughness to get the job and hang on to it.”

The Cougars secondary will face a Colorado offense that averages less than 200 passing yards per game which is ranked 106th out of 120 teams in the country.
