L-C Cubs win Championship Game of Clancy Ellis Tournament

L-C Cubs win Championship Game of Clancy Ellis Tournament
LEWISTON, ID - Our youngest local Legion team is on a hot streak, and finished off the Clancy Ellis Tournament in style over the weekend.

There's the family of Clancy Ellis, the long-time Legion member who helped out Legion Baseball in any way he could. And he sure would have been proud of the L-C Cubs who played their hearts out in the tournament named after mister Ellis.

As you know, the Cubs got a huge win on Friday against Libby, Montana, beating them 14-8. Saturday, a huge, seven-run first inning helped the Cubs stay undefeated as they beat Meridian, 8-6.

Then came the championship game of the tournament on Sunday against Orofino, the only other team to not lose thus far in the tournament. Julian Washburn went two-for-three at the plate with two RBI's while Dalton Stamper pitched a complete game allowing only five hits, and the L-C Cubs are your Clancy Ellis Tournament champions with a 4-1 win over Orofino!

The Cubs will play a doubleheader at Saint Maries on Tuesday.
