LEWISTON, ID - A very special tournament started Thursday featuring several legion teams from near and far, and what a game we saw between two local teams.

The 2014 Clancy Ellis Tournament at Harris Field began Thursday, featuring eight Legion teams, including the Moscow Blue Devils and L-C Cubs, and what a battle they played.

Going into the bottom of the seventh in a one-to-one game, the Blue Devils looked to be in the driver's seat to a victory with a man on third and one out. Moscow's man at the plate hits a fly out to left field, Chris Powell makes the catch, relays to Alex Light at short, then to home to Cole Grijalva who makes the tag for the out! Cubs stay alive!

Same situation for the Cubs in the top of the ninth, and Chris Powell would fly out to right, but in this case, Cole Grijalva has too much speed as he flies home to score the run...and they would proceed to close out the Blue Devils in the bottom of the inning, to get a big win in the Clancy Ellis Tournament...Cubs win 2-1. This win made a first year coach very happy.

"Oh a tough Moscow team," said LC Cubs Head Coach, Colby Hawk. "They had a good pitcher on the mound, we had to scrap for everything we had. You know Riley Way threw a heck of a game. You know just the way the guys competed late, I was really happy. You know, a lot of intensity, throwing the guy out in the seventh inning, that's a great play. And I really stress to these guys to fight and compete and they showed that today."

The Cubs will play again tomorrow (Friday) at 7:00 p.m. against the Libby Loggers while Moscow will play at 1:00 p.m. against the Meridian Warriors. We'll have more highlights and more on the Clancy Ellis Tournament tomorrow (Friday)!
