Cougs soccer opens season with win over Gonzaga
PULLMAN, WA - Nearly 900 fans gathered at the Lower Soccer Field on Sunday as Washington State opened up their soccer season against in-state rival Gonzaga.

The game’s first goal was an unassisted effort from junior Micaela Castain in the 23rd minute of the match.

In the 67th minute of the game, junior Kayla Johnson scored goal number with assists going to Jocelyn Jeffers and Kourtney Guetlein.

The Cougs played strong all afternoon and in the 89th minute of the game, Brandi Vega, with an assist from Mariah Cameron, scored goal number three as WSU blanked Gonzaga by a 3-0 final.

Washington State returns to the field, Friday when it takes on Boise State at Lower Soccer Field. The game is scheduled for 3 pm.
