PULLMAN, WA - Over to the Cougar side of the football realm, despite having a bye week, one of their players is another step closer to upping his draft status by leaps and bounds.

Washington State Senior Safety Deone Bucannon was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the top defensive back in college football. Bucannon enters the week leading the Pac-12 conference with 73 tackles and tied for second with four interceptions. He also has a pair of double-digit tackle games this season and currently sits tied for fourth in WSU history with 343 career tackles and 13 career interceptions.

The three finalists will be announced on November 25th, while the winner will be announced on December 12th.
