BSU yet to name starting QB
BOISE, ID - Following Saturday's scrimmage, and with just 12 days till their season opener against Michigan State, it appears Boise State has their starting quarterback, or do they?

Junior Joe Southwick shined under center completing 16-of-24 passes and a touchdown. He did throw one interception during a late red zone drill. The positive, all of his statistics came with and against other presumed starters.

So is Southwick the new starting QB? Boise State head coach Chris Petersen was short with an answer to that question.

"Joe has earned some good reps," said Petersen. "I've said this before; when we've got the starting quarterback we'll tell you guys."

Senior running back DJ Harper's answer was a little bit longer in length. When asked about Southwick, he was very complimentary about his abilities.

"He looks really good," said Harper. "I mean all the guys do. I think that we really like his leadership, he knows the system, he's been here for a while. Whoever they throw back there, we're confident in that guy."

Sophomore Grant Hedrick was the only other quarterback to see action with the number one offense. He threw back to back interceptions in that time.

With practices now closed entirely to the media, BSU fans could still see a surprise under center in East Lansing.
