After losing game one the Cubs were trying to bounce back. Sam Rogers was on the mound and in the zone early on.
In the third inning Rogers' battery-mate smothered the pitch in the dirt then fires the ball to first in time. Rogers then threw it by yet another Cardinals hitter. Then the southpaw would get his fourth strikeout in a row as he K'd the side in order.
In the fourth inning while the streak would end due to an error to start the inning, Roger's would essentially do it himself. He went six innings allowing just two unearned runs.
The one problem though for LC, up until the bottom of the fourth, they weren't only getting shutout, but no hits as well. That's when Nik Bergas walked the bases loaded to start the inning.
After a pitching change, with a no-hitter still intact, the Cubs finally strike on the sac-fly to left. Beau Kerns tagged and scored easily on the play.
While the Cubs won 2-1, they were saving their best for last. They pushed seven runs across in the sixth inning alone and go on to win 8-4 in the second match-up.
Just up the river, the Asotin County Blues were at home against the Palouse Posse. Luke Olsen pitched a complete game allowing just three hits, as the Blues 10-runned the Posse in five innings.
Asotin County moves to 10-4 on the summer.
