LCSC hosting tennis lessons

LEWISTON - If you're not known as one of the major sports... It may take a little help from the professionals in the sport to jump-start your popularity. Local coaches say the Euro Cup brought renewed interested in soccer, holding a number of camps through the area. Just after Tiger Woods limped to a U.S. Open Championship, junior golf numbers spiked in the Valley. And just a couple weeks after an epic Wimbledon Championship...

LCSC is helping people of all ages catch the tennis bug.

"We teach anything for just the basics to hitting a forehand to hitting backhands and even the serves," said LCSC Freshman Richard Muszynski. "Those are pretty much the three major groundstrokes that are being used."

Muszynski is giving lessons at the LCSC Tennis Center for the next few weeks. And there's no real age limit on either side of the spectrum. From Clarkston High, Muszynski is fresh off a 2A state singles championship... So no matter what age... you might learn a thing or two from him.

"Even some of the senior citizens groups, they come for the adults lessons, too. And they're always a blast to have," he said.

Another plus, it's a sport you can play outside or inside... where they can pump the AC into the tennis center.

"Summer's always a great time." Muszynski added, "Again tennis is just a life-long sport. There's so much to learn from the basics, forehand, backhand, and learning even more strokes. learning the grips is always key, and even the strategy of the game."

The lessons run Monday to Thursday this week, and the weeks of August 4th, and the 11th. LCSC Coach Kai Fong will be thereas well. For information, you can stop by the tennis center or call 208-792-2309
