"Heat" will move inside
LEWISTON - The Valley's annual summer 3-on-3 basketball tournament is just a few days away. But officials are saying they're making a noticeable change.

The tournament, known as "Heat in the Street," will not take place on asphalt.

Primarily for weather reasons," said Tim Walker, LCSC Head Men's Basketball Coach, "and then we never have to worry about it. Then everybody that's playing and working - we'll all no that weather won't be a factor."

It certainly will not. Walker said they'll be taking participants indoors.

"We've got a great facility here," he said. "We'll be using the main activity center gym, an the auxiliary gym, and the playing surfaces will all be even, and really good. So we think it's going to be a great venue, our registrations are in good shape. We've got quite a few teams pre-registered, so we think it's gong to be a good event."

Walker said otherwise, the format remains the same. A maximum of 4 people per team are allowed to register. If you show up Saturday morning, they'll be taking registration at the Northwest corner of the LCSC Activity Center.

"Registration cost is 65 dollars. Each team is guaranteed at least two games," said Walker. "Each participant gets a t-shirt, Registration starts at 7:45 a.m. this Saturday morning. And we'll get the tournament started as close to 9:00 as possible."
