Police: Girls post 'copycat' beating video on Internet
By Associated Press
CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Police in Indiana say a group of middle school girls who videotaped the beating of a 12-year-old schoolmate and put it on the Internet may have been inspired by a similar video in Florida.
No charges have been filed yet in the Indiana case, which involves girls aged 12 to 14. Authorities say the victim was the daughter of a police officer. They say the other girls lured her to a parking lot near a warehouse a week ago and beat her up. The attack was taped and later posted on the Web, but has since been removed. The victim was treated for cuts and bruises at a hospital. Police believe the plot was inspired by a similar scheme in which a group of teenage girls in central Florida posted the videotaped beating of a 16-year-old victim online. |
