CLARKSTON, WA - There's a new program in the works at Clarkston High School.

Clarkston EPIC and the high school are in the process of starting a youth coalition, which will be a group of teens hanging out and brain-storming fun activities they can do while staying above the influence.

Clarkston firefighter Melissa Welter is a big supporter of Epic. She said this is about upper classmen helping their younger peers make positive life choices.

"We want them to be their authentic self and be above the influence and we'll do everything we can to assist the youth in that process," said Welter. "You'll be hearing more about the youth coalition once they set up their name and their whole media campaign. They'll be alive and well in Clarkston High School."

Welter said they've had 52 applicants sign up so far and they're excited to get this program going. Epic leaders will meet with youth for the first time next Tuesday.
