LEWISTON, ID - Children and adults alike know more about extreme science after special event at the Lewiston City Library Wednesday.

Radical Rick hosts a Saturday morning science program on KHQ-TV in Spokane, and he visited the library to get kids excited about science. Some of his experiments included sucking a hard-boiled egg into a flask and magically putting a folded dollar bill into a balloon.

The huge crowd at the event was something Assistant Director Heather Stout said was a good sign, as they plan to do more of these events all summer.

"We have children's programming every single Wednesday during the summer as part of the Summer Reading Program," said Stout. "We really do want kids reading over the summer. When kids read over the summer they do much better in school and we want to build literacy skills. And this summer we're so excited because we're able to offer stem based activities that will help the kids. And that's science, technology, engineering, and math, so Radical Rick fits that to a T."

The library will have activities for young children and teens, and they're also offering book clubs and computer classes for adults. For a full schedule of events, just head to our KLEW Facebook page where we've provided a link.
