MOSCOW, ID - An estimated 400 to 500 acres of farmland east of Moscow is charred Wednesday, after a prescribed burn got out of control.

The blaze near Larson Road off of Highway Eight got away from the farmer that set it around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. The Moscow Rural Fire Department responded along with surrounding fire agencies, Idaho Department of Land, The Latah County Highway District, and even some nearby farmers.

The rapidly spreading blaze posed a threat to four homes. Two were evacuated. The fire was under control within a few hours and the families returned safely to their untouched homes.
