Visitors’ bureau changes name to “Visit Lewis Clark Valley, Gateway to Hells Canyon”

Visitors’ bureau changes name to “Visit Lewis Clark Valley, Gateway to Hells Canyon”
CLARKSTON, WA - Tourism is bringing millions of dollars to Asotin County.

The president of the Hells Canyon Visitor Bureau is Michelle Peters. She said $30.9 million was spent in the county by visitors in 2013, and they collected $1.5 million of that.

Each visitor spent an average of $197 each day. Also, Peters told county commissioners that leaders from her office decided to change the name of the bureau. She said their previous name wasn't defining who they are and what they do. Their new name is, "Visit Lewis Clark Valley, Gateway to Hells Canyon."

"We have so many things to offer here, with the historical aspects, arts and culture," said Peters. "There's just so many things to do and when you say Hells Canyon Visitor Bureau people thought we just book boat tours and nothing else."

Peters said nobody uses names like convention and visitor bureau anymore, so they decided to change their name to keep up with the newest trends.
