LEWISTON, ID - A man is facing felony eluding charges after police said he tried to drive away from them and hit a passenger vehicle.

Officers said Jhad Taylor of Lewiston was caught going 60-miles-per hour on Thain. When the officer turned on his lights, Taylor took off. The officer did not pursue him, but Taylor eventually collided with 34-year-old Josephine Light's vehicle.

"Unfortunately the violator continued to travel in an erratic matter, made a couple more turns and then crashed in an intersection with a citizen," said LPD Captain Roger Lanier. "Which is the precise reason we opt not to chase violators if it's going to pose a hazard."

Taylor is now charged with felony eluding. Both Light and Taylor were taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center where they've since been treated and released.
