Luckily, the house sustained only minimal damage.
CLARKSTON, WA - Crews are mopping up after a fast-moving fire in Clarkston Tuesday afternoon.

Thanks to the quick response of multiple agencies, a house in Clarkston only sustained minimal damage.

Units were dispatched to an active fire on Third Street in Clarkston around 3:00 p.m. Asotin County, Lewiston, Clarkston and Wheatland all responded to the blaze. Clarkston Fire Captain Jim Babino said only minimal damage was done despite a highly flammable landscape.

"We had some damage to an outbuilding and a fence, but the fire quickly progressed having some pine trees and juniper bushes around the residence which are a really big fire hazard,” said Babino. “So once the fire hit them the fire spread really rapidly."

Babino said crews will make sure all hot spots are taken care of as they prepare for high winds (Tuesday) night. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
