Clarkston City Council is drafting a new agreement for dispatch services.
CLARKSTON, WA - The Clarkston City Council is one step closer to developing a new dispatch agreement.

It was unanimous Monday night that the council would start drafting a new agreement for dispatch services. The city of Asotin, Asotin County and Clarkston have been in a joint agreement. However, city officials believe they've been paying more than their share over the last five years, so now a new agreement is in the works.

Clarkston Fire Chief, Steve Cooper will meet with county officials.

"It's important we move forward quickly as our current contract with Whitcom expires at the end of June and we have to have a contract in place by the first of July," said Cooper.

Cooper said he's hopeful that a new agreement can be reached by the end of May.
