LPD dispatched to 2100 Birch Ave. after discovery of a bomb left on street.
LEWISTON, ID - Lewiston police need your help finding the person responsible for making and placing an explosive device in a Lewiston roadway.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Birch Avenue. When they got there, officer's found three chunks of concrete placed on top of a small object wrapped in black electrical tape. After securing the area they called the Spokane County Sheriff's Department's explosives disposal unit.

"They dispatched a team who came down and they were able to disassemble the item, which did in fact contain gun powder and appeared to be a homemade improvised explosive device," said Lewiston Police Dept. Deputy Chief Roger Lanier.

There's very little physical evidence that law enforcement has to go on, so if you know anything about this incident, Lewiston police would like for you to call them at 746-0171. This is the second time the Spokane Bomb Disposal Unit has been in the L-C Valley in less than a week.
