Washington State has its first flu death in the Tri-Cities area
TRI-CITIES, WA - Washington State has its first flu death of the season.

A State Health Department spokesman said it was a Tri-Cities woman in her 50's who died in the past week. Doctor Amy Person of the Benton-Franklin Health District told the Tri-City Herald the woman had chronic medical conditions that put her at higher risk for complications from the flu.

Tim Church with the State Health Department said there were 54 deaths last flu season. Health workers recommend a flu vaccine for everyone over six months old.
