Vacant space in strip mall is ideal location because of the size.
LEWISTON, ID - WinCo Foods is in talks with the City of Lewiston to possibly open up a store right here in the Valley.

WinCo Foods Vice President of Public and Legal Affairs, Michael Read, said they've signed a binding agreement to start the initial phase of the process to bring the supermarket to the area. The vacant space in the strip mall that houses Macy's and JC Penney's is the ideal location according to Read because of it's size.

"We anticipate that it would be about 56,000 square-feet but by way of comparison our store that's been in Moscow for many years is about 53,000 square-feet, so this would be somewhat bigger than the Moscow, Idaho store."

Read said he doesn't know when the changes could be taking place if negotiations are successful. He said the process has varied from a few months to several years at their other WinCo Foods locations.
