Clarkston Fire Dept. is looking for at least seven more people.
CLARKSTON, WA - If you've ever wondered what it would be like to be a firefighter, now is your chance.

The Clarkston Fire Department is looking for volunteer firefighters.

The station currently has 16 volunteers, but Fire Chief Steve Cooper said they're looking for at least seven more. He said they prefer candidates who live within ten minutes of the station. They'll be expected to attend at least 75% of Tuesday night drills and respond to no less than 30% of fire incidents. Volunteers will also complete EMT training. He said volunteering isn't always easy, but it's rewarding.

"I've been doing this for six years and it's the best job I could've ever imagined," said Firefighter/Paramedic, Greg Peasley. "I love coming to work and it's a cool opportunity to serve your community like this."

Initial training will take roughly three months, after that volunteers will join other members of the fire department every Tuesday evening though the year. Testing for volunteers includes an interview, physical agility, background check and a medical examination. Applications are due by the 29th and the test date is slated for May 31st.
