LEWISTON, ID - Lewis-Clark Valley students raised more than $9,000 for two local charities at the 18th Annual Golden Throne Basketball game.

The game is put on by Lewiston and Clarkston High schools. Every year the two executive boards come together and select two local charities to raise money for. This year's chosen charities were Back Packs for Kids and Family Promise. Both schools ASB advisors feel the common goal decreases the negativity of the rivalry.

"We have worked hard at developing good relations with Lewiston High school because the rivalries, as in lots of years ago, the rivalries weren't always very healthy."said Clarkston High school ASB Advisor Kay Andersen.

Hundred's of thousands of dollars have been raised for local charities around the community over the last several years. The $9,000 was split evenly between the two charities. Back Packs for Kids supplies meals to children over the weekends, and Family Promise helps provide shelter for the homeless.
