MOSCOW, Idaho (KBOI) - A 22-year-old University of Idaho student died over the weekend on the Selway River.

Idaho County Sheriff's officials say Bishal Shrestha of Kathmandu, Nepal drowned on the river Saturday.

Officials say they were notified that a raft had flipped approximately 11 miles up Selway Road spilling several people into the river and a man was missing.

Shrestha had been rafting with other U of I students from Nepal, including his brother, when the raft got stuck and then popped, spilling all five occupants into the river.

The other four occupants were able to get to shore and were later transported back across the river, in the dark, by Three Rivers Rafting.

Shrestha was not wearing a life vest.

His body was found at about 10 a.m. Sunday.
