US Rep. Labrador announces re-election bid
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador officially announced his bid for re-election, saying he wants to continue to work to limit the reach of the federal government.

The Republican Labrador was surrounded by about 30 state lawmakers on the Idaho Capitol steps for Monday's announcement.

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter, who served three terms in Congress in the same 1st District seat as Labrador, lauded the first-term representatives efforts — even though the two fought bitterly in 2009 over Otter's unsuccessful attempt to increase Idaho's gas tax and automobile registration fees.

At the time, Labrador was a state representative.

Democratic candidate Jimmy Farris, a former professional football player from Lewiston, previously announced he would try to unseat Labrador.

Farris has run a low-key campaign and has yet to complete his website.
